DIY Pillowcases

I saw the cutest idea on You Tube that I had to share.  The Crafty Gemini has a great (and easy) tutorial on making pillowcases.  Check out the video here to see how to make your own personalized pillowcases using only 3 simple seams.

I found this idea just before Christmas so I HAD to make some cases for everyone!!  Took a picture of each one, I thought they turned out pretty good.   Tried to make something that each person would like.  My sister in law has a ton of butterflies, so I made her one with butterflies on it.  CUTE!

Owls, my favorite fabric.

I think my favorite is the owls!  They are super easy to make, and everyone loved them.

Thanks for looking,
Have a great day.

Personalized Wedding Gift Idea

Back in November a friend was getting married and I wanted to make a personalized gift for her and her new hubby. They are a rather young couple so I thought a set of beer mugs would be clever. I used my previous ideas (here and here) from teacher appreciation gifts and applied it to this one!

Went to the Dollar Tree (my personal fave!) and bought 3 beer mugs. I like to have one extra in case of an "oops!". Used my Cricut machine to cut out a Mr. and Mrs. label out of vinyl for the glasses. I use the sticky stuff to cover drawer bottoms and cupboards, it is much cheaper than the stuff for craft projects. Sorry forgot to take a pic of that step!

After sticking the vinyl on the glasses had to curve up the plastic so the etching stuff didn't drip down the side of the glass. Watch this step carefully because the cream does drip and will ruin the project if it gets on the other parts of the glass.

Both glasses turned out pretty nice. The new Mr and Mrs Yoko loved them!!

Very cute personalized wedding gift!

Thanks for looking.

50th Birthday Party Gifts

This weekend I was invited to a friend's 50th birthday party. For a gift I made some etched glass plates. The plates are from Wal-Mart and etching cream is from Michaels.

My Cricut machine cut out the letters, and used contact shelf lining paper as the sticky paper (not sure what to call it- kinda like the vinyl stuff). I have done this before and works out very well and is less expensive!

They were a big hit at the party!

Made some teacher appreciation gifts using the same method. Check them out!

Thanks for looking.

Friendly Faces travel Tic Tac Toe

I made this portable magnetic Tic Tac Toe game for my friend's daughter's 7th birthday. When ever we are out to dinner the kids can get a little bored or antsy. I thought it would be fun to make something the kids could play with and use their own faces!!
Last summer I found this little case at Target on sale - only $1.50. It had some travel game in it with a pad of paper and ... not sure what else. So I thought - this case must be good for something!
The colors didn't come out very well in the pictures but it was a very cute pink and purple (every 7 year old girl's favorite color combo!) , the letters are cut out with my Cricut (Mickey Font) and just used a hand punch for pictures. To play you just take out all your "faces" and close the case, play on the front cover. It was a big hit at the birthday party.
The pictures didn't come out very clear and the colors were much better IRL. Sorry about that, but I hope you get the main idea of the gift.
Enjoy!
